oh, Puerto…
For our nearest and dearest that want to come relax on the beach after a long weekend of getting married, you will find us in Puerto Escondido. Puerto is a beautiful little surfer town on the coast of Oaxaca (the state), about 3 hours south of Oaxaca (the city).
The Plan — leave Oaxaca de Juarez on Monday morning, sandwiches in hand, and travel by bus down to Puerto. The ride will take about 3 hours. Electrolytes will be provided.
Arrive — in Puerto by early afternoon to check in. Drop our bags, put on our bikinis, and commence with the unplanned part of the week. Go to the beach, eat tacos, drink margaritas, walk barefoot, go dancing, etc. Whatever your heart desires. Though we will collaborate beach days and nights out, this is meant to be the low maintenance portion of the trip. Spend it how you like.
Where to stay — Puerto has many neighborhoods, but our favorite is La Punta Zicatela. It is located right on the beach and walking distance to many bars and restaurants. We will be staying at Ennea Hotel, but stay wherever you like! We also recommend Casa To, Punta Nayaá, Casa Kuaa, and Che Puerto Escondido.
Travel tip! — Puerto Escondido has its own airport that flies to many major airports, including Mexico City. You can fly into Oaxaca de Juarez for the wedding and out of Puerto Escondido to head home.
